Today I worked on the wire drawings adding to what I had, having a lot of fun playing about with the pattern and shapes. I use nature as an inspiration and combine the images together to create my own random objects, their like little creatures and insects.

I was playing about with the lighting and got some interesting shadows.

Below is a piece I pretty much started when I arrived, and it keeps on growing. They’re off-cuts of the plastic bags. I thought they were too pretty to throw out so I started to pin them to the wall.  I’m going to keep on adding to it and see how long it gets!

Today I started making “drawings” using wire and plastic bags. I used autumnal warm colours and simple line/pattern. I was trying to interpret natural objects such as leaves, twigs and pebbles in a naive way.

The work made me think of playful Miro drawings. I love the way his work is so simple and childlike.

I enjoyed using the wire it meant I could be inventive with the images, as its strong yet still delicate looking. I would like to play around more with it, maybe build up layers of the wire.

Monday morning arrive into number 72, was totally overwhelmed by the large studio space, then worry sets in how I’m I going to fill it all, as my work is small scale and quite time consuming, maybe this space is telling me to work larger scale!!!

I start my day by making a neck piece, I’ve got used with making products since finishing college. I think I was in my comfort zone, which I needed to get out of!

As the week progressed I settled in, feeling more relaxed. I started making a number of small installations. I use installation to express my ideas and then making items of costume jewellery inspired by them. For me the installation and product should feed off one another.

Colour and pattern are important elements in my work. I’m inspired by natural, organic objects, total contrast to the materials I use!
