The following few days of workshops we experimented with shadows and projectors.

‘Dude’ was Elma’s shadow character and kept us all amused, below are photos of the shadow show and ‘Dude’ being attacked by Aisling’s shark,

‘Water’ was the theme that was running through the workshops. We all were excited by Mairead’s animated water colours and agreed that this would feature somehow in the final art work, maybe with another animation projected over the top of it.

As well as an animated film the group are also concidering how to exhibit the animation. It could just be a TV  on the wall or maybe build some sculpture around the film. Theresa’s drawing below may become the shape of the sculpture.

On friday we started off the collaborative chalk drawing animation that is now set up for all the people who call into the gallery to participate in if they choose.

Monday saw the first day of a series of stop motion animation workshops, starting with a week of morning workshops which will be followed up by weekly workshops with Aisling, Mairead, Elma, Teresa and Jack.

Some of the group had done animation before and some hadn’t, so I ran an introductory session that was great fun and we all got to know each other.

Below is the result of our first workshop.

The idea of these workshops is so that the group will get to learn basic animation skills and create a collaborative piece of work and exhibit it at the Arts Office along side my exhibition in June.
