Kilkenny County Council Arts Office Residency at No. 72: Call for Applications

The layout the residency space is the ground floor arts display area and submission details are as follows:

What: Artist’s residency at no. 72, John Street, Kilkenny, including large studio space, with on street façade, artists fee and materials budget. The aim and focus of the residency is to enable the successful applicant to research and develop their practice. The studio is situated underneath the arts office which is a public space; therefore the artist must agree to engage with the public from time to time. As another aim of the residency is to:

  • give insights into how and why artists create their work
  • build relationships and further promote the Arts
  • provide an awareness and further appreciation of the Arts
  • cultivate and develop new audiences

Artists are welcome to visit the space prior to making an application.

Duration: September 10th 2007 – October 19th 2007

How to apply: Artists must submit a brief:

  • the brief can be based around any medium, drawing, painting, sculpture, time based art, photography, installation etc (but the space available is indoor only)
  • the brief must be 1 side of A4 only
  • it must testify the artists ability to achieve one or more of the following:

– a. provide the artist the opportunity to research and develop their work practice
– b. enable the artist to investigate and explore new ways of working
– c. encourage the artist to cultivate and develop new ideas
– d. complete a body of work currently underway

It must also:

  • state the benefits to them of acquiring a space in this particular space
  • include a current artists CV, (1 side A4 only) include two referees, personal and professional
  • five – seven images of current work
