My ten week residency at no. 76 John Street will run from the 16th May until the 20th July 2012, every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  My work for this residency will continue my present research on the ‘built’ environment and the human tracesI found in archaeology.  I will also develop my research on the ‘pilgrim’ or ‘traveller’, exploring the concept and ethos of those who went into unexplored territory in search of a new life.

I aim to explore new ways of working using relief printband collographs and combining my print work more with my 3d installation pieces.

Week 1,

Day 1, Wednesday 16 May: Since I have an absolutely huge space to work with I start by hiding myself in the corner at the back of the studio!

Day 1: My corner!

Day 2, Thursday 17th May: I spent the day helping the National Drawing Day team printing their 100s of  lovely t-shirts! I think I’m avoiding getting started with my own work!

Day 3, Friday 18th May: Took a big step today; I moved evertything to the front of the space so I’m now working in the window. Ooooooooh. I decided it would be better in order to get more involved with the passing public and give passers-by something to look at! Plus the light out the front is great.

The space was looking a bit empty so I set up my tent and filled it with cusions to make it a bit more inviting! And now i have a starting point!
