Lesley Frew recently graduated from the University of Ulster with a B.A. Hons in Fine and Applied Arts. Since her graduation she has been energetic to establish herself as a Designer / Maker.
Lesley creates her work from recycled plastic bags giving the materials a second life by transforming and reusing them. She enjoys confronting people’s expectations by taking a discarded material, giving it new value and showing it can be beautiful. Her work invades the confines of jewellery. As installation pieces become something else, worn by the consumer.
She envisages the residency at number 72 as allowing her the opportunity to develop her work further crossing boundaries between art, fashion and jewellery.
